Lydia & Pete's Wedding

The wedding took place on a beautiful sunny day in June in Dursley. A lot of thought and care had gone into the decoration of the church, marquee and the garden; there were so many vintage style details to photograph in order to capture the imagination and unique atmosphere of the day.

It’s crucial that I’m prepared for the significant moments like the bride and her father preparing to walk down the aisle, the wonder in the eyes of the flower girls when they first see the dress, the surprise and delight on the faces of the guests during the best man’s speech and the first moments of the newly married couple alone together outside the church. I can happily say that I have delivered.

As requested, after the ceremony, from the top of my step ladder, I assembled all 118 of the bride and groom’s favourite people into a huge group (with a little help from the ushers) for their grand photo before freeing them to enjoy their champagne.

Throughout the day, I was constantly drawn to moments of joy between the guests, the bride and groom and their family: Laughing and chatting or just enjoying the sun or the fire pit.

I was honoured to have been asked to photograph their magical day. Here are a few words I have received:

“Your photos are absolutely stunning and they have captured the day perfectly!”

Preserve your memories in a photo book

There's nothing like the feeling of turning the pages of a hardback photo book, unfolding the story of your special event or memories and sharing the experience with those around you.

A photo book allows you to preserve and showcase your photos in high quality print on the bookshelf or coffee table and is far more accessible than digital files, how often would you view photos on your laptop or tablet?

I think this is the best way to enjoy your photos so I offer a photo book design and print service following the photography of your event. This way you’ll always treasure your photos, plus they make fantastic gifts!

And my clients agree; “It is a beautiful way to remember this happy and joyful day, of which we keep such good memories.

Sophie & Reg's Wedding

I was thrilled to be asked to work with Sophie and Reg and their families (and little dog Axel) on their wedding day; I take the responsibility of shooting such a special day very seriously and look forward to providing my service in just the way it’s called for.

It was most important to the couple that candid moments of their guests enjoying the day were captured along with their beautiful church ceremony. So I took great care to spot the interactions between guests and their emotions as they celebrated.

The bride arrived at the church in a shining classic Ford Mustang and entered to the music of the choir and organ, the vicar gave a joyful service as the couple exchanged their vows. I was mindful to stay at the back of the audience and to work quietly, respecting the vicar’s guidance.

The celebration continued in an inn function room transformed into tropical hideout, with tables lit by fairy lights hung in a canopy of ferns, there was even a life sized Zebra and lion! There were so many personal touches that provided plenty of smiling and sometimes teary faces to photograph.

If you’re planning your wedding or other event please get in touch to talk about how I can photograph your special day.

Vicky & Daniel's Engagement

It was a cloudy winter day when I met up with Vicky and Daniel in Brighton for their engagement shoot. We decided Preston Park and it's rock garden were great locations to visit a variety of intimate settings within a relatively short space of time.

I wanted to capture the excitement on the couple's faces and the closeness of their commitment to each other. It wasn't difficult for the smiles to stay as they recalled Daniel's nerves and ‘strange behaviour’ before proposing.

I was able to take a collection of wide angle and close up shots to capture the couple in the peaceful atmosphere of the gardens where they felt comfortable away from the busy crowds of the city. Working with layers of distant trees and close up foliage I was able to use the natural beauty of the location as a frame around them. Using the soft light through the trees gave a warm tone to the images and feeling of the fresh winter air.

The shoot was fun for us all and Vicky and Daniel were delighted with the results “They are so lovely, we will really treasure them”.

Baby Charlotte's Baptism

I was thrilled by the opportunity to photograph this beautiful family occasion in tiny Lucmau in the Gascogne region of France.

The beautiful church stood tall in the blue summer sky as the crowd gathered outside its doors and the ceremony began. Inside the church was cool and tranquil, there was damage to the roof above the font which added a historic beauty and contrast to the images of baby Charlotte's immersion.

I love watching for emotional faces in the audience and had plenty of opportunities for shots of them here.

After the service the party travelled to the family home for a lovely reception where speeches were given and toasts made; communicating the pride, love and happiness on the faces of the family, godparents and friends through my photos felt like a real privilege.

Congratulations Charlotte!
